Books Inside Supports Transition Housing

Books Inside is highly supportive of transition housing: places where
people leaving prison can live as they find jobs and reintegrate into the
community. We are currently working directly with one of these projects.
Dilapidated houses are renovated into comfortable and attractive dwellings
maintaining the character of these older houses with their large windows,
hardwood moldings, and uniqueness.  The buildings are divided into small
self-contained rooms, each furnished with a bed, closet, table, microwave,
fridge, and chair: simple, clean and, in one person's words as he moved
in, "the Taj Mahal."

The project is always on the lookout for small furniture like bookcases,
chairs, and tables as well as items for cooking such as coffee pots,
toaster ovens, small microwaves, crock pots, and flatware.  Also, to
maintain the yards and gardens we need yard tools (even rusty), lawn
mowers, and large flower pots for vegetables and flowers.

If you have anything that you would like to contribute to this project,
please send us an email ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and we'll gladly arrange
for a pickup. Everything is very much appreciated! Our thanks for your
consideration.
